Johannesburg Solar, providing our clients with efficient, tailor-made solar solutions since 2014. With our experience, knowledge and extensive research and our ‘Do it right the first time’ mentality, you can finally have your own
off-grid solution.

Whether back-up power or fully off-grid, industrial or commercial, we’ve got the solutions for you.

Our tailor-made solutions.
Installation

We install tailor-made solar systems to suit your specific needs based on Load tests and in some cases after a full Energy Logging was done. These systems vary from UPS (ready for solar systems) to off-grid systems.

Our focus ranges from small residential to semi-commercial and commercial systems. Our speciality is off-grid systems for the agricultural sector. To design and install your tailor-made system that fits your needs we carry out a range of onsite test to obtain the correct detailed information, ranging from Load tests (your power usage) to Full Energy Logging. All our systems are SANS10142-1 compliant, and a COC is issued once install has been completed.

Our endorsed products include:

Victron, Sunsynk, Atess, Revo, BSL Batteries,
Freedom Won Batteries, E Lituim Batteries, Canadian Solar Panels,
JA Solar Panels, Trina Solar Panels.

Maintenance

All solar and electrical systems will degrade over time due to equipment wear and tear as well as prolonged use. The generation segment of a solar system is DC (direct current) based and so due to the lower voltages used a high current will be present, this in turn will increase the heat on the switchgear and conductors resulting in the degradation of the system. To combat this a regular maintenance program should be put into place that is suitable for each type of system and that of the equipment manufacturers specifications. Once the maintenance of a system is up to date Johannesburg solar Pty Ltd will provide a free backup services for the next 12 months.

System types and maintenance requirements:

Residential (Large) / Semi-commercial/ Commercial system.

These systems (usually 3-phase systems) are extensive and complex by design, with several key communication aspects between multiple components. Due to the high work rate on the power generation and the AC output these systems must always perform optimally to prevent equipment damage/ failure. For these systems a 6-month service schedule should be put into place including full thermal imaging reports which will be compared with the initial installation and/ or the previous maintenance event.

Residential systems (Medium)

These are systems between 8-12 KW that can be either 3-phase or single phase. While there is still a high work rate with these systems, they are a lot simpler in design. Thus, these systems will require monitoring and will be maintained accordingly. We recommend that these systems get there PV array cleaned twice-yearly at the bare minimum and the distribution boards as well as the equipment get a visual check at least once a yearly during which only thermal sweeping will be done and abnormalities addressed.

Residential systems (Small) and UPS (Ready for solar system).

These systems are generally low output (< 5 KW) and have minimal degradation as they are simple by design. We suggest a low-profile approach to minimize the cost as it will be hard to repay the input cost of this system as it is. On these systems a twice-yearly PV array cleaning and inspection is recommended, and a general system check will be sufficient. However, should a more intensive approach be requested by a client we would be happy to accommodate.

Refurbishment

Due to our extensive maintenance plan, we also take installations
on-board that vary from poorly to fairly done and refurbish to our standard for integration.

We inspect the system and supply the customer with a full report and a quotation for remedial work required to have the system incorporated into our maintenance services.

We also cater for insurance claims and facilitate the process with a full damage report.
